Seo Ji-seok (Hangul: 서지석; or spelled Suh Ji-suk; born September 9, 1981) is a South Korean actor. He is well known for his role Park Yoon-hoo in KBS 1TV 167-episode daily drama Pure in Heart, aka Pure 19, broadcast from May 22, 2006 to January 12, 2007. This drama recorded high TV ratings around 40% and has been broadcast in Southern California, Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington D.C.[1] This drama was also aired in Taiwan in 2007, and in Singapore in 2008.

Early life

In middle school, he was an athlete good at 100m~200m short distance running. He won four gold medals in a variety of sports when he was 16 years old. He was excited that he was chosen to prepare for the national team. Unfortunately, in 1999, he had a traffic accident that he was hit by a vehicle while he was crossing a street. He was sent to a hospital and stayed there for 6 months to receive medical treatments. During those 6 months, he went through frustrations and nightmares.

Then, a management agency's manager saw Suh Ji Suk on the street and liked his refined appearance, which was his life’s turning-point. He had to choose acting as his career because he could not reach the peak of running anymore. [2][3]

Career

TV dramas, he appeared in two films directed by the renowned South Korean movie director Kim Ki Duk. In the first one “The Bow”, he played a college student involved in a mysterious and dangerous relationship between a grandfather and his granddaughter. The grandfather kidnapped the girl 10 years ago when she was 7 years old. He appeared in the second movie “Time” as a guest star. He also participated in the movie “May I Cry?” in 2006.

Suh Ji Suk fulfilled the mandatory 2-year military service in South Korean army. He was enlisted in Chuncheon 102 Supplement Unit (춘천 102보충대; 春川 102補充隊) on 5/29/2007. After 5 weeks basic training, he was assigned to the 12th Infantry Division (육군 12사단; 陸軍 12師團) located in Inje, Gangwon-do, and he completed his military service on 5/3/2009.[4][5]

On 5/3/2009, he was discharged from the army, and then had a fan meeting on 5/10.[6]

From October to November, 2009, he filmed an independent film "The Inside Story of Him and Her".

On 2/3/2010, Suh Ji Suk and Jang Suh Hee lead the SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama "OB & GYN (산부인과, 産婦人科)".[7]

On 7/31/2010, Suh Ji Suk, Bae Doo Na, Soh Yi Hyun, and Lee Chun Hee lead the MBC Weekend drama "Gloria (글로리아, 葛羅莉亞, グロリア)".[8]

Starting from 8/22/2010, for 6 months, Suh Ji Suk will be one of the 7 MCs of the MBC "Sunday Night - Enjoy Today (일요일 일요일 밤에 - 오늘을 즐겨라)" TV Variety Program.[9]

Starting from 4/13/2011, Suh Ji Suk leads the cable channel - tvN 16-episode romantic-comical Wednesday-Thursday drama “매니(Manny, 男保姆).” [10]

Starting from 9/19/2011, Suh Ji Suk performs in the MBC 120-episode romantic-comical daily sitcom "Highkick 3, Short Leg Counter-Attack (하이킥3, 짧은 다리의 역습, 短腿的逆襲)." [11]
